Recently, Tsinghua University and the Paulson Foundation are about to launch the Paulson Award for Sustainable Development.

On April 18, a reporter from the Daily Economic News attendedJackpotnumbersRelated media interview activities.

According to reporters, the Paulson Award for Sustainable Development was launched in 2013.

Yu Jiang, chief representative of the Beijing Representative Office of the Paulson Foundation, said that this year's "Paulson Award" will pay more attention to new productivity and innovative projects that empower green development, climate change and biodiversity on the basis of previous years.

A reporter from the Daily Economic News noted that a few days ago, the General Office of the State Council issued a circular on forwarding the "work Plan for accelerating Energy Saving and carbon reduction in Construction" issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction. The construction field is one of the main areas of energy consumption and carbon emissions in China. Accelerating the promotion of energy conservation and carbon reduction in the construction field is of great significance to achieve carbon neutralization and promote high-quality development.

It is important to reduce the proportion of energy consumption in operation and maintenance.

What is the current situation of green and low-carbon transformation in the construction industry? Which paths and technologies are the core links of carbon reduction?

In response to the above problems, in the media interview activity before the launch of the Paulson Sustainable Development Award, Zhuang Weimin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in an interview with the Daily Economic News that there are many links in the whole life cycle of the building, including planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance, post-evaluation and recycling after demolition. Among them, the two links with the highest carbon emissions in the whole life cycle of the building, one is the operation and maintenance, including daily use of air conditioning and heating, etc., this link is related to residents' living habits and use patterns, so it is more difficult to control through architectural design or architects; the other link is the carbon emissions generated by building materials.

Zhuang Weimin stressed that building materials, operation and maintenance account for about 70% of the total energy consumption and carbon emissions in the whole building process, so it is very important to reduce the energy consumption of operation and maintenance and building materials.

Residents are required to raise their awareness of environmental protection

So, how should the construction industry reduce carbon? Zhuang Weimin believes that the key to carbon reduction in the construction industry is to prevent large-scale demolition and construction, so the relevant departments should introduce relevant policies to curb large-scale demolition and construction.

"Today, China's urban construction has entered the stock era, in the face of old houses, stock buildings, the original approach is mainly demolition. It is good to rebuild on the open land after demolition, but it is necessary to repeat the production of building materials in order to build new houses. Therefore, compared with the renovation, the existing buildings will be knocked down and rebuilt with more carbon emissions, which is the crux of the problem. " Zhuang Weimin said.

Zhuang Weimin stressed that at the level of operation and maintenance, there is also a need for residents to raise their awareness of environmental protection.

"in addition, in all aspects of the building life cycle, the design link accounts for a large proportion of the potential carbon reduction. For example, architects can pre-position green and low-carbon in the early stage of design, and then use it in architectural design. The potential contribution rate of them (architects) can exceed 80%. " Zhuang Weimin further pointed out.
